Dental Implants

More and more people are replacing missing teeth with dental implants. This choice of treatment is a permanent solution to replace missing teeth and the feel and look is as natural as your own teeth. An implant is an “artificial root” made of titanium . The implant is surgically placed into your jawbone and left to integrate with the bone. After healing for 4-6 months a post is placed into the implants, and a porcelain crown is cemented on the post, to match your smile...

Crowns and Bridges

Crowns Crowns are used to correct problems such as fractures, decaying, badly stained teeth or teeth that are heavily filled. Dental crowns can also be considered as another approach to correcting crowded, rotated teeth. A crown is made of porcelain, metal or a combination of both. If a tooth has had root canal treatment, or if a tooth has lost a lot of its natural structure, a crown should be placed for strength and longevity. To prepare a tooth for a crown, some of the enamel of the tooth is removed to create a structure to support the crown. An impression is made of the reduced tooth and a temporary crown is put in place to function while the crown is being made. Our dental technician then fabricates the crown based on the impression. Approximately 8 days later the patient returns and the final crown is cemented permanently and the patient will have a natural-looking crown that will last for many years. Bridges A bridge is a permanent replacement for missing teeth. The bridge is made of metal, porcelain or a combination of both. The natural teeth on either side of the space are used to attach the missing tooth/teeth. The procedure involves removing some to the enamel of the adjacent teeth and an impression is then taken. The impression is sent to our dental technician who fabricates the bridge and in the interim, temporary crowns are placed over these teeth. Approximately 8 days later the patient returns and the permanent bridge is...

Porcelain Veneers

A porcelain veneer is a thin layer of porcelain that is durable and has similar colour and texture to natural tooth enamel, but does not decay and resists staining. They are a permanent option to close gaps between teeth, repair damaged or discoloured teeth, and provide a beautiful, natural looking smile. Porcelain veneers can normally be done in 2-3 visits, under local anesthetic with virtually no pain. The front of the tooth is prepared to create a good surface to adhere the veneer to, and temporary veneers are placed until the final ones are complete. Once the final veneers are fabricated by our highly experienced dental technician, Dr. Terk ensures the patient is satisfied before final insertion by making any requested changes to the shape and colour. With proper care and maintenance they will last for many years, providing the patient with a “million dollar...
